WHAT DOES "NORWECO" STAND
FOR AND WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Norweco is an acronym for Norwalk Wastewater Equipment
Company. The corporate offices for Norweco are located in Norwalk, Ohio, USA. Our products
and services are provided through dealers and local, licensed, factory-trained distributors across the
United States and around the world.
HOW DO I LOCATE MY NORWECO
DISTRIBUTOR?
If you own a Norweco wastewater treatment system, your
local distributor's name, address and telephone number are displayed on the equipment
control center. Additionally, if you provide us with your name, address and telephone
number, we will forward that information to your local Norweco distributor so that they
can contact you.
I RECENTLY MOVED INTO THE AREA AND
HAVE A NORWECO SYSTEM ON MY PROPERTY. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IT DOES OR WHY IT IS THERE.

YOU HELP ME?
Owner's Manuals for all Norweco equipment can be obtained
from our website or sent to you if you provide us with your name, address and telephone
number and a brief description of the type of equipment. Details regarding equipment
function, operation and maintenance are included in each manual. If you like, we can have
your local distributor contact you to provide a maintenance history of your system or
schedule a service inspection.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NORWECO
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT. I HEARD SOMEWHERE THAT IT WILL WORK BETTER IF I ADD YEAST TO
GET IT STARTED. WILL THIS HELP?
All Norweco treatment plants use natural
biological processes to break down wastewater. Except for accomplishing specific
environmental objectives (such as adding chlorine for disinfection), there is never a need
to add additional products. In fact, using chemicals or products other than those
specifically designed for use in your Norweco wastewater treatment plant could be
dangerous. Consult your Norweco distributor or Owner's Manual for reference before
applying any additives to your treatment system.
CAN I USE A SINGULAIR SYSTEM IF I
HAVE A WATER SOFTENER?
Softened water discharged into a Singulair wastewater
treatment system does not create an operational problem. However, water softener units are
normally built with a filtration backwash system that discharges brine or other chemicals
that can create operational problems within a wastewater treatment system. The backwash
line from the water softener must be connected downstream of your wastewater treatment
system. Contact your local health department or Norweco if you have any questions about
this procedure.
I HAVE A HOME WASTEWATER
SYSTEM REQUIRING CHLORINATION. WHAT KIND OF TABLETS SHOULD I USE?
Only use tablets that are USEPA approved and
labeled for wastewater disinfection such as Norweco’s Blue
Crystal residential disinfecting tablets. These tablets are
specially made for use in all brands of residential treatment
systems. They will reduce bacteria without sticking in the feed
tube. A 10 pound pail should last about 4 months. Do not use
swimming pool tablets. They are dangerous!
THE GRASS BEHIND
MY SEPTIC TANK IS ALWAYS VERY WET, AND MY HOME DRAINS ARE RUNNING
SLOW. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Sounds like your leach field is becoming clogged
with organic solids from your home. First have your tank pumped,
and then consider using a bacterial product like Norweco’s
Bio-Perc tablets to help digest the organics clogging your
field. Reduce your water use if possible.
WHAT IS THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE XT AND IT SERIES OF BIO-DYNAMIC TABLET
FEEDERS?
The XT series of Bio-Dynamic tablet feeders is
designed to be installed above grade, typically in a chlorine
contact tank. The IT models are designed to be direct buried for
in-line installation.
I OPERATE A
SMALL WASTEWATER PLANT AND MY STATE EPA WANTS ME TO START
DECHLORINATING. WHAT DO I DO?
The least expensive and easiest way to meet this
requirement is to add a tablet feeder into the discharge line from
the chlorine contact tank. Fill one feed tube of the feeder with
Bio-Neutralizer tablets and test for chlorine residual at the
discharge point. Dechlorination is an instantaneous chemical
reaction, so no additional contact time is required.
