Community
Involvement
As
citizens of the global environmental community, we bring awareness
to public health issues by being active members of the American
Decentralized Wastewater Association, NSF
International Joint Committee, the Department of Health Ad Hoc
Committee, the National Environmental Health Association, the
National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association, the National
Precast Concrete Association and the National Rural Water
Association.
As
citizens of our local communities, we have been pleased to donate
our time and financial support to our public and parochial
schools, universities, their booster groups, area Scout troops,
local facilities for the handicapped, churches, hospitals,
Jaycees, youth camps, the Domestic Violence Shelter, the Volunteer Center, Project Fire Safety
House, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Clothe-A-Child, Toys for Tots, Easter Seals, Special Olympics, March of
Dimes, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Cancer
Society, the USO,
and The United Fund.
As a manufacturer of hazardous materials, we have
coordinated and implemented emergency response drills with local
officials in order to promote community awareness and public
safety.
Our involvement with area chambers of commerce has helped
the development of our local businesses and neighborhoods.
We
actively support The Food Bank Capital Campaign in their efforts
to abolish world hunger.
We have helped such organizations as NASA, the Atomic
Energy Commission, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Army Corps of
Engineers, FHA, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force,
Newport News naval shipyard, the National Park
Service, the Navajo Tribe, the USAID Office, the World Health Organization and the
International Red Cross with solutions for their diverse water and
wastewater treatment needs.
Our
systems have been donated to help refugees in the Balkans, used in
the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa to kill parasites that
cause blindness and protected victims of hurricanes, earthquakes,
floods and revolutions in the Caribbean, Central America, Eastern
Europe, Asia and Africa.
They are being used in the rebuilding and infrastructure repair
efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
From protecting international victims of natural disasters
or civil unrest, all the way down to educating children about fire
safety at a local level, we care about and
are involved with all of the communities in which we
live.
